New at NCTV

NEW STUDIO PRODUCTION AND EDITING CLASSES TO BEGIN SOON!

The next STUDIO PRODUCTION Class begins on Monday, November 10th. We will be offering a 4-part class on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The total fee is $10 for all four classes. The instructors are our engineer, Bill Carlquist, and local producer, Gil Dominguez. You must be a member to take any of our classes.

Here is the schedule for 5 new Final Cut Pro* (FCP) Edit Classes thru the end of 2008:

Beginning Edit II FCP

Monday and Wednesday 6-8 pm Twelve class hours FEE: $100

This class is repeatable. The “basics” are reviewed in the first class, new skills are learned, and students can take their exploration of FCP as far as they want. We build on the previous class instruction each time, and add many new skills along the way. ** Beginners with no experience are welcome in this class, and will receive one additional hour prior to the first class to get foundational information.

CLASS #1 September 29th thru October 15th CLASS #2 December 1 – 17th

“Work-In-Progress” Edit Class

September 30th thru October 30th & December 2nd thru 18th

FEE: $50 per week – pay as you go. Come for one week, every other week, or all weeks!

This is an ON-GOING class designed for individuals who have projects they want to get done. Maybe there is a real deadline, or maybe your project has been stalled for months and you just want to get it completed, or you have some edits you want to do and need instruction for a week or two on just what YOUR project editing needs are. Or maybe you have a big project and you want “pre-production” planning, project coaching AND editing when the time comes. This class covers lots of information related to production with a focus on editing and individual instruction to meet YOUR project needs.

Building Effective Opens & Closing Credits

Monday October 20 & Wednesday October 22 6-9pm FEE: $60

Pre-requisite Edit II or equivalent

Two evenings of creating several styles of OPENings and Closing Credits. Bring all gear (camera, external HD, cables, power supply) and music and footage. Be prepared for a couple brisk evenings! Precise use of Pen tool, creating text clips, static and moving, resizing video, mattes, cropping, filters, etc.

*Pre-requisite: experience/comfort with FCP environment.

LAST EDIT CLASS OF 2008!!

December 29th & 30th 6-9pm FEE: $60

Pre-requisite Edit II or equivalent

This two-evening class is for blasting together your Holiday video shooting into a finished DVD for family and friends! Be prepared to work fast, and arrive at the first class with your camera and cables, external hard drive (if you have one) and all elements. i.e. video, still images on CD, music on CD and your CREATIVITY! Instructor will step everyone through a fast-paced, down & dirty editing approach that gets the project done in a few hours instead of weeks.

Bio of Instructor, Carolyn Ivey-Cone:

Since 1988, I have developed and produced projects such as an educational video and audio series on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), documentaries on life and culture in Egypt, promos for various non-profit groups, TV commercials, et cetera. I have also produced and hosted several television shows at Access stations and Lane Community College in Oregon. In addition to editing my own work, I also edit for hire. My own expertise covers all aspects of the production cycle from planning to distribution.
