Advisory Board Meeting Minutes, October 19, 2006Minutes: NCTV Advisory Board Meeting
Thursday, October 19, 2006 1. Meeting called to order at 6:00 pm by Gary Schlosser. Directors in attendance: Dave Bloch, David Kyle, Neal Allbee, Elisa Parker, Susan Rogers, Barbara Coffman, Jack Meeks. Also present: Lew Sitzer. Not present: Chuck Scimeca, Lisa Swarthout, Christina McClung. DISCUSSION ITEMS 2. Adoption of Agenda (as corrected): (Kyle/Rogers, passed 8/0). 3. Adoption of the minutes of Sept 21 2006: (Coffman/Allbee, passed 8/0) 4. Public Forum: no public present. 5. Executive Director Report: Lew reported on the following: a. Awards Dinner: Great success although we don’t have a videotape of the whole thing. Event raised about $2,000 plus another $2,000 from the silent auction. b. Comcast contract is signed. Best guess for receiving money is January 2007. c. MOTION: Congratulations to Lew and Elisa for success of the Awards Night (Kyle,Rogers, passed 8/0). d. Telethon: Denise Dunlap (United Way) is coordinating NPO’s and talent. e. Rotary Grant for $7,000 almost final; NCTV will make a documentary and PSA’s. Timeline is March 2007; expect to net about $4,000. f. County meetings: Lew is communicating with Steve Monaghan (County CIO) to provide staff for Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission meetings. g. Web videos: Bob Whitney has posted over 100 shows on Google Video. Web users can do a search on the NCTV site for shows made by specific producers. (David Kyle commented here on the transition from television to Internet distribution; part of strategic planning.) Discussion of whether producer releases are needed before programming is posted on the Internet. 6. Strategic Planning Committee: no report (planning retreat in early 2007). 7. 501(c )3 Committee: Gary has donated the Nolo Press books to NCTV. Discussion of whether anyone knows an attorney who could help. Question of whether the local governments can (or should) have reps to the NPO corporate board? Should they be “liaisons” instead? 8. Review of online video policies: Gary reintroduced this item for action. MOVED ADOPTION with effective date of Jan 1 2007 (Rogers/Coffman, passed 7/0). 9. Comments on NCTV policies: Barbara reiterated her comments from last month about inconsistent use of word “producer.” Dave Bloch will get these into the next draft. 10.
