Nevada City 4th of July Parade
A technical glitch meant that local residents who tried to tune in to see the 108th annual Independence Day Parade in Nevada City on NCTV were disappointed.
But NCTV will not only broadcast the parade repeatedly, it will make a DVD of the parade available to local residents.
“We are certainly dismayed that all of our planning for this special community telecast was undermined by a technical glitch that prevented the broadcast from going on the air that day,” said Paul Minicucci, the new executive director of NCTV. "TouchDown Productions, our production partner for this telecast, the NCTV staff and many volunteers always work very hard to create a memorable parade broadcast for the community to enjoy."
It is the first time in NCTV's history that technical problems have prevented a live holiday parade broadcast, Minicucci said.
Studio Training Classes Beginning Soon
Studio Training - 4 sessions:
Classes begin Soon
NCTV will once again be offering our very popular Studio Training classes for those who are interested in taking advantage of our production facilities. Classes start soon, so call to get on the sign-up list, as space is limited.
Studio Training consists of four sessions with our experienced instructor Bill Carlquist. Students will get an overview of the studio production process and lean skills in camera operation, audio set up and mixing, character generation and graphics, production switching and directing.
Nevada City Bicycle Classic on NCTV
NCTV wants to let everyone know that we are re-broadcasting our LIVE presentation of the 50th Annual Nevada City Bicycle Classic on Comcast Ch. 11 (Ch. 16 in So. County) and the race is also available on demand via our website, www.nevadacountytv.org. Gil Dominguez’s team from Touchdown Productions did an amazing job of covering the Mens’ Pro race in its entirety, plus pre-race highlights, including footage of the first race from 1960. Once again, NCTV brings timely, local events to YOU, our public. Thanks to Touchdown Productions and the City of Nevada City.
The Future of Public Access Television Part 1
What Does the Future Hold for Public Access Television?
Part 1- The Current PEG Model
By Paul Minicucci
This is the first of a three-part series; the second part will deal with "How Social Networks can Revive Access TV"; the third will deal with the "Emergence of New Models"
"Over the course of the last generation or two, a variety of technological, economic and social changes have rendered obsolete the stuff of American social capital." Robert Putnam, Bowling Alone
There has been a lot of talk this past year at the Alliance for Community Media (the list-serv for Public Access Television Stations) about the future of PEG television. The discussion includes how to deal with a bevy of outside drivers that are not necessarily under PEG stations control. They include:
